Jeannemarie Halleck

Senior Consultant, Civics Credentialing System

With two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector, Jeannemarie has a proven track record in civic learning and engagement, community-building, facilitation, and youth leadership development. She is a strategic thinker and practitioner with a depth of experience including community organizing, philanthropy, and leading departments and initiatives. She served as the inaugural director of a new set of civic engagement initiatives in Maine, and most recently was the Senior Project Manager for a nation-wide youth civic fellowship.

Jeannemarie is emphatically pro-democracy and passionate about building civic spaces that are accessible, equitable, and inclusive. She considers her ability to galvanize individuals, groups, and communities of all ages and from all walks of life to be her super-power.

Throughout her career she has taught courses and workshops on philosophy, youth leadership development, and civic engagement. She has also facilitated year-long community-based research studies, intergenerational communities of practice, and conversations across lines of difference.

Jeannemare has lived and/or worked in all corners of the country and now resides in Portland, Maine, with her three wild and curious kids and very patient husband.  When not working, you can find her in the ocean or the woods, reading, starting house projects, gardening, or working to complete a certification in mind-body coaching.
